NSK: Topicus University Competition
Every university delegates one team with their finest runners to participate in the Batavierenrace. These teams battle against each other in the Topicus university competition. This competition is a Dutch Students Championship.
On yearly basis more than 50 Dutch Students Championships are organised by a national organization called ‘studentensport Nederland’ (SSN). They also supervise the biggest Dutch Students Championships; The Batavierenrace.
In the competition, healthy rivalry and the battle for eternal honour are accompanied by strict rules. Winning the Topicus University competition is a combat that requires full speed, cooperation and strength stage after stage. The rules can be seen in the registration regulations and competition rules
History
During the 22th Batavierenrace in 1994, the time had come: a special ranking for the fastest team of each university; the University competition! After the first trial, the organization committee decided to implement the newborn ranking in the following races. The main goal was to highlight the competitive element of the race. Previous races have shown that this worked out perfectly; every year the university teams get stronger and the rivalry increases.
The ultimate goal is to make the University competition an international competition with university teams from all over the world.
